World Championship 2020

The championship is a skill-based competition that recognizes the fastest jigsaw puzzlers in the world. It is celebrated the last weekend of September at the Millennium Dome in Valladolid (Spain).

The championship consists of three categories that are held at different times, so it is possible to enroll in one or more events. No experience level is required and anyone over 16 years old, except in the equipment category if accompanied by an adult, can participate.

The 3 first classified in each category will be distribuyed 4,000 euros in prizes along with many jigsaw puzzles from the sponsor. The Official WJPC Trophy who recognizes the World Champion is given to the winner of the individual test.

Teams

Rules: Assembling in teams of 4 people simultaneously 6 jigsaw puzzles (3 of 1000 and 3 of 1500 pieces) in a maximum period of eight hours. The registration of 5 people is allowed.

Prizes: First Team classified € 500, 2nd classified € 300 and 3rd classified € 200.

Registration fee: € 90. Includes the 6 puzzles used during the competition.

Pairs

Rules: Assembling in pairs a jigsaw puzzle of 500 pieces of an unpublished puzzle in a maximum period of 90 minutes. It will have the reference image on the box.

Prizes: First Pair classified € 700, 2nd classified € 400 and 3rd classified € 200.

Registration fee: € 20. Includes the official puzzle WJPC 500 pieces.

Individual

Rules: Assembling individually a jigsaw puzzle of 500 pieces of an unpublished puzzle in a maximum period of two hours. It will have the reference image on the box.

Prizes: First classified € 1.000, 2nd classified € 500 and 3rd classified € 200.

Registration fee: € 20. Includes the official puzzle WJPC 500 pieces.

Criteria to consider for the selection of teams, pairs and individual:

The maximum quota for the category of teams is established in 120 teams, divided into 5 groups according to the following criteria (**):

GROUP A) 10 places for the top 10 teams classified in 2019

GROUP B) 25 places for the 3 best teams classified by country in 2019 and do not meet criteria A

GROUP C) 25 places for the first 3 teams registered by country and do not meet criteria A and B

GROUP D) 50 places for the first 50 registrations of equipment received and that do not meet criteria A, B and C, or meet and have already been covered

GROUP E) 10 places reserved by the Organization

Individual and Pairs category the quota is established in 240 pairs and 240 Individual participants , divided into 5 groups according to the following criteria:

GROUP A) 20 places for the top 20 classified by category in 2019 (*)

GROUP B) 50 places for the top 5 classified by country in 2019 (*) and do not meet criteria A

GROUP C) 50 places for the first 5 registrations received by country and do not meet criteria A and B

GROUP D) 100 places for the first 100 entries received and that do not meet criteria A, B and C, or meet and have already been covered

GROUP E) 20 places reserved by the Organization

Registration Deadline:

FROM JANUARY 1 TO APRIL 30: Registration for groups A, B, C and D

FROM MAY 1 TO JULY 31: Places not covered in groups C or D (preference to previously registered registrations)

FROM AUGUST 1 TO SEPTEMBER 15: Places not covered in groups A and B (preference to previously registered registrations)

Upon receipt of the registration form, the Organization will notify the applicant of the status of the same. The payment of the fee does not imply confirmation of the request sent. The organization will periodically update on the web http://worldjigsawpuzzlechampionship.com/ the list and status of all applications received.

(*) In the category of pairs, to meet criteria A or B, the members of the pair must be the same as in 2019.

(**) Any person over 16 years old can participate, except in the category of teams and / or couples if accompanied by an adult.
